Hi friends!
Have you ever craved a warm, fluffy bagel but didn’t want to go through a big, complicated recipe? Well, I’ve got the perfect solution! These 2 ingredient bagels are soft, chewy, and super quick to make. No yeast, no long rising times just mix, shape, and bake. Whether it’s breakfast, lunch, or a snack, these little bagels hit the spot!
Method
Mix It Up
To start, grab a mixing bowl and add in 200 grams of self-raising flour and 200 grams of plain or Greek yogurt. I like to use a spoon or spatula at first to begin combining the two ingredients. As you stir, the dough will start to come together and look a little rough that’s totally normal! Once it becomes too thick to stir easily, switch to using your hands. Gently knead the dough in the bowl just until everything is fully mixed. It should feel sticky but not too wet or overly tough. Be careful not to overwork it this isn’t bread dough! Overmixing can make the bagels dense instead of soft and fluffy.
Shape Your Bagels
Next, lightly flour your hands and your work surface. This will keep the dough from sticking. Take your dough and divide it into two equal parts these will become your two large bagels. Take one piece and roll it into a thick log shape, about 6 to 7 inches long. Then, gently pinch the ends together to form a circle. You can smooth the seam a bit so it holds its shape. Repeat the same with the second dough piece. Try to make the holes in the middle wide enough so they don’t disappear while baking bagels like to puff up!
Add Toppings (Optional)
If you want to give your bagels a golden brown finish and add a little extra flavor, this is the fun part! Beat one egg in a small bowl to make an egg wash, and use a pastry brush to gently coat the top of each bagel. While the surface is still wet, sprinkle on some sesame seeds (or poppy seeds, or everything seasoning whatever you like!). This step is totally optional but really adds that bakery-style touch.
Bake It
Now it’s time to cook! You can use either an air fryer or a regular oven, depending on what you have.
- Air Fryer Method: Place the shaped bagels in the air fryer basket lined with parchment paper or a lightly oiled tray. Set the air fryer to 180°C (350°F) and cook them for 15 to 20 minutes. The bagels should puff up and turn golden brown on top.
- Oven Method: Preheat your oven to 180°C (350°F) and line a baking tray with parchment paper. Place the bagels on the tray and bake for about 20 minutes, or until they’re nicely browned and feel firm to the touch.
Cool Down
Once your bagels are fully cooked, take them out and let them cool at room temperature on a wire rack or plate. This step is super important! If you try to cut them while they’re still hot, the inside can get a little gummy or fall apart. Giving them a few minutes to rest lets the steam escape and the texture firm up beautifully.

You only need TWO simple ingredients to make the dough!
200g self-raising flour
200g plain or Greek yogurt
Optional toppings:
Egg wash (from 1 egg)
Sesame seeds
Directions
- Mix it up: Add the self-raising flour and yogurt to a bowl. Mix with a spoon until it forms a sticky dough.
- Shape your bagels: Use your hands to divide the dough in half. Roll each piece into a log, then connect the ends into a bagel shape.
- Add toppings (optional): If you want that golden look and extra flavor, brush the tops with egg wash and sprinkle sesame seeds on top.
- Bake it:
Air Fryer: Place in the basket and cook at 180°C (350°F) for 15–20 minutes.
Oven: Bake at 180°C (350°F) for around 20 minutes on a lined baking tray. - Cool down: Let them cool at room temperature before slicing or adding fillings. This helps the texture set just right.
Notes
- Don’t overmix the dough it should be sticky, not tough.
- Make sure your hands are floured when shaping, so the dough doesn’t stick.
- Don’t open the air fryer or oven too early they need time to rise and bake evenly.
- Letting them cool is important! If you cut them too early, the steam inside can make them gummy.
