strawberry overnight oats

🍓 Strawberry Overnight Oats (With My Smoothie Hack!)

Hey friends! If you’re like me and want to wake up to something tasty and healthy, then you’ve got to try these Strawberry Overnight Oats. But here’s the fun part I don’t just use chopped fruit and oats… I make a strawberry smoothie and pour it right in! It’s creamy, sweet, and feels like dessert for breakfast. Perfect for busy mornings, meal prep, or just when you want something yummy with zero morning effort.

Let me show you exactly how I make it and what makes it extra special! 🍓😴👇🏼

Method

Blend the Smoothie

To start, grab your blender and add in most of the strawberries save 2 or 3 for later. Pour in your choice of milk (I used soy milk), a tablespoon of maple syrup for sweetness, and a little squeeze of fresh lemon juice. This combo turns into a super tasty, creamy strawberry smoothie that acts as the flavor base for your oats. Blend everything together until it’s smooth. The better it’s blended, the easier it will mix into the oats later. If you like a few fruit bits, feel free to blend it just lightly.

Chop and Mix

Take those extra strawberries you saved and chop them into small pieces. In a clean jar or any container with a lid, add the oats and chia seeds first. Then, toss in your chopped strawberries. These fresh chunks give the final mix a bit of texture and that juicy strawberry burst in every bite.

Pour It In

Now that your strawberry smoothie is ready, pour it straight into the jar over the oats, chia seeds, and chopped strawberries. Use a spoon to give everything a good stir. You want to make sure the oats and chia seeds are fully soaked and evenly spread out. This step is super important for a nice, creamy texture later.

Chill It

Once everything is mixed well, pop the lid on your jar and place it in the fridge. You’ll want to leave it there for at least 1 hour, but it’s best to let it sit overnight. During this time, the oats and chia seeds soak up all the liquid and flavors, turning into a thick, spoonable breakfast with zero cooking needed.

Top It Off

In the morning (or whenever you’re ready to eat), take your jar out of the fridge and get ready to add your toppings! Spoon on some yogurt to make it extra creamy and balanced. Then, slice up those extra strawberries you saved and sprinkle them on top. If you’re feeling fancy, toss on some crunchy granola for the perfect finish. And just like that your strawberry overnight oats are ready to enjoy!

Ingredients

  • 400g fresh strawberries (about 1 box)

  • 45g oats

  • 1 tbsp maple syrup

  • 1 tbsp chia seeds

  • 120ml milk (I used soy milk, but use what you like!)

  • Squeeze of lemon

  • Toppings (Add these right before eating):

  • Yogurt

  • Extra strawberries

  • Granola (optional but SO good!)

Directions

  • Blend the smoothie: Add most of the strawberries, milk, maple syrup, and a little lemon juice to your blender. (Save a few strawberries for topping or mixing into the oats!)
  • Chop & mix: In your jar, add the oats, chia seeds, and the saved chopped strawberries.
  • Pour it in: Now pour your strawberry smoothie over the oats and stir it all together.
  • Chill it: Put the jar in the fridge for at least 1 hour, but overnight is even better.
  • Top it off: Right before serving, add a scoop of yogurt, extra berries, and some crunchy granola if you like!

Notes

  • Don’t add the yogurt too early! It can make the oats watery if it sits overnight.
  • Blend the smoothie well chunks are okay, but the smoother it is, the better the oats absorb it.
  • Give the mixture a good stir before chilling to make sure the chia seeds don’t clump together.

Serving Suggestions

🫶 Serve with a glass of water or your morning tea
🍌 Add sliced banana or blueberries for extra fruit
🥄 Pack it in a lunchbox with a cold pack for school or work

Fun Fact

Did you know chia seeds can hold 10 times their weight in water? That’s why they help make overnight oats thick and creamy without cooking anything!
