Asian Tofu Wrap Recipe (Easy, Flavor-Packed & High Protein)

Hey friends! If you’ve got a friend who thinks tofu is boring, this recipe might just change their mind! Today, I’m sharing one of my all-time favorite ways to cook tofu Asian Tofu Wraps. They’re packed with flavor, easy to make, and totally satisfying. The tofu is grated (yes, grated!) and caramelized in a yummy Asian-style sauce that’s sweet, spicy, and a little bit garlicky. Then it’s all wrapped up with crunchy veggies and a creamy sriracha mayo. Yum!

Let’s dive in and make tofu taste AMAZING.

Method (In-Depth)

Grate the Tofu

Start by grating the tofu using the large holes of a box grater. This step may seem unusual, but it really helps create a lovely texture that soaks up all the delicious sauce. Grated tofu cooks faster and develops a slightly crispy edge while still staying soft inside. It also gives your wrap a hearty, meat-like feel without being heavy.

Cook the Tofu

Next, heat a non-stick pan over medium heat. You don’t need to add any oil at this point just drop the grated tofu straight into the pan. Let it cook for about 3 to 4 minutes, stirring occasionally. You’ll notice the tofu start to turn golden and release some of its moisture. This cooking step is essential because it sets up the tofu to absorb the flavors from the sauce later.

Make the Tofu Sauce

While the tofu is cooking, prepare the sauce in a small bowl. Mix together 2 tablespoons of soy sauce, 1 tablespoon of sriracha, 1 tablespoon of maple syrup, 1 teaspoon of cumin, 1 teaspoon of garlic powder, and 1 teaspoon of oil. This sauce has a perfect balance of spicy, sweet, and savory flavors. The oil helps with caramelization, and the spices add depth and warmth. Stir well until everything is combined and smooth.

Make the Sriracha Mayo

Now let’s mix up the creamy sriracha mayo! In another small bowl, combine 2 tablespoons of natural yogurt, 1 tablespoon of sriracha, 1 teaspoon of mayonnaise, and a pinch of salt. This sauce is cool and spicy at the same time and pairs beautifully with the warm tofu and veggies. Stir until the mixture is creamy and evenly blended. You can also adjust the spice level by using more or less sriracha depending on your taste.

Cook the Vegetables

Slice the bell pepper and onion into thin strips. In another pan, sauté the vegetables for a few minutes until they become soft and slightly charred. This adds color, texture, and a fresh bite to the wrap. You’re not limited to just peppers and onions feel free to use whatever veggies you have on hand, like carrots, cabbage, or zucchini. Leftovers work great here too!

Caramelize the Tofu

Once the tofu is nicely golden, pour the sauce you made earlier right into the pan with the tofu. Stir everything together so the tofu is evenly coated. Let it cook for about 1 more minute just long enough for the sauce to bubble slightly and caramelize onto the tofu. You want the tofu to stay moist, not dry, so keep a close eye on the texture. The result should be flavorful, sticky, and totally crave-worthy.

Assemble the Wrap

To bring it all together, start by gently warming your wrap so it folds easily. Then spread a generous layer of the sriracha mayo onto the base of the wrap. Add the sautéed veggies on top, followed by a big spoonful (or two!) of the caramelized tofu. Be sure to distribute the fillings evenly so every bite is packed with flavor. Fold or roll up the wrap tightly, slice in half if you like, and it’s ready to eat!
