Hi friends! Today I’m sharing a super tasty and easy recipe that I love making Falafel Burgers! If you’re looking for a healthy, vegetarian meal that still feels like a treat, this recipe is for you. It’s packed with flavor, fun to make, and totally satisfying. Plus, you don’t need fancy ingredients just a few pantry staples and fresh herbs!
Method (In Detail)
Mash the Chickpeas
To start, open your can of chickpeas, drain them, and pour them into a large mixing bowl. Using a fork or a potato masher if you have one begin mashing the chickpeas until the mixture is mostly smooth. It’s okay to leave a few small chunks for texture, but the smoother you mash them, the easier it will be to form your patties later on.
Mix All the Ingredients
Next, it’s time to add in all the flavor! Toss your finely chopped spring onions and parsley into the mashed chickpeas. Then, sprinkle in the plain flour, ground cumin, ground coriander, garlic powder, and the vegetable stock powder. These spices and herbs give the falafel that classic warm, savory flavor. Use a spoon (or clean hands) to mix everything together really well, making sure all the ingredients are evenly spread through the chickpea mash.
Shape into Patties
Once the mixture is fully combined, it’s time to shape your burgers. Divide the falafel mix into four equal parts. Using your hands, gently press and shape each portion into a round, flat burger patty. If the mix feels too sticky or soft, you can add a tiny bit more flour to help hold it together. The patties should be firm enough to pick up without falling apart but still soft to the touch.
Cook the Falafel Burgers
Now for the fun part cooking! Heat one tablespoon of oil in a frying pan over medium heat. Once the pan is hot, place your falafel patties in gently. Let them cook for about 3 to 5 minutes on each side. Don’t rush this part; you want a beautiful golden-brown crust to form. Use a spatula to carefully flip them over once the bottoms are crispy. Be gentle, as the burgers can be a little fragile while cooking.
Assemble and Serve
Once your falafel burgers are cooked and golden on both sides, it’s time to assemble! Place a patty in a soft burger bun or warm pita bread. Add a couple of lettuce leaves, a slice or two of fresh tomato, and a generous spoonful of yogurt-tahini sauce (just mix yogurt, tahini, and a little salt). Stack it high or keep it simple it’s totally up to you. Either way, you’re going to love it!
