Hi friends!
If you’re like me and love sweet treats that are easy, fun, and healthy then you’re going to fall in love with these Healthy Apple Doughnuts. They’re soft, cinnamon-spiced, and made with only 5 simple ingredients you probably already have in your kitchen!

They’re great for breakfast, snack time, or even a cozy dessert. Plus, they’re baked (not fried!), made with oats and apples, and are kid-friendly too. Let’s get baking!

Method

Prep the Apples

To begin, peel the apples and chop them into very small cubes. This step helps the apples cook quickly and blend easily later on. Once chopped, place the cubes in a microwave-safe bowl and microwave them for about 1 minute. This softens the apples and brings out their natural sweetness, making them easier to purée. Don’t skip this step it’s key to getting that soft, moist texture in your doughnuts!

Make Apple Purée

After the apples have been softened, transfer them to a blender or food processor. Blend them on high until the mixture becomes smooth and creamy, forming a fresh apple purée. You want it to be lump-free so it mixes well into the doughnut batter. This purée will act as a natural sweetener and moisture booster in the recipe.

Mix It Up

Next, pour the apple purée into a mixing bowl. Crack in the two eggs, then add the oat flour, cinnamon, and baking powder. Stir everything together using a whisk or spoon until the mixture becomes smooth and well blended. The batter should be thick but pourable, with no dry flour left. If you made your oat flour at home by blending rolled oats, make sure it’s fine enough to mix well without clumping.

Bake the Doughnuts

Preheat your oven to 180°C (350°F). While the oven is heating up, spoon or pour the batter into your doughnut mold, filling each space evenly. Smooth out the tops with the back of a spoon if needed. Place the mold on the middle rack and bake for 12 minutes, or until the doughnuts look golden and firm to the touch. You can test them with a toothpick if it comes out clean, they’re ready!

Add the Optional Topping (Highly Recommended!)

To make your apple doughnuts extra special, try the cinnamon-sugar topping. After the doughnuts come out of the oven and have cooled for a few minutes, lightly brush the tops with melted coconut oil. Then sprinkle a mix of sugar and cinnamon on top. The oil helps the topping stick and adds a lovely golden touch. This step adds a hint of crunch and a cozy flavor that makes the doughnuts feel like a real treat.
